Ariodante Marianni was born in Naples, in 1922 was an italian painter and poet.
Ariodante lived for many years in Rome, later he lived in mature age in Castel Giuliano di Bracciano and, in the last years of his life, in Borgo Ticino.
Here he was seized by sudden death on March 26, 2007. His verses were collected in volumes: De l'amour, Biblioteca Cominiana, Cittadella, 1987; Journey in incognito, Biblioteca Cominiana, Cittadella, 1988; Brindisi di San Silvestro, Biblioteca Cominiana, Cittadella, 1990; Confiteor. Marianni was an incomparable translator of modern English and American poets such as Dylan Thomas, G. K. Gibran, Wystan H. Auden, William C. Williams, Emily Dickinson, and William Butler Yeats's entire poem. For this last work, published in the series "I meridiani-Mondadori" he was awarded the Premio Monselice 2005. In the sixties and seventies of the twentieth century Marianni, under the pseudonym of Ario, successfully dedicated himself to painting exposing his works in solo exhibitions and collective exhibitions in various Italian cities (Rome, Florence, Livorno, Milan, Bologna, Bari, Borgomanero, Brescia, Omegna, Verbania). to radio and television broadcasts and acted as an actor in theatrical pièces and in dramas for RAI (among others: Il giovane Freud, Silvia Plath).
In 1990 on his poem Brindisi di San Silvestro the composer Vittorio Gelmetti made a composition for male choir.
